Default Video FX

Hello,

Is there any list on the default video fx in Vegas and there usage. For exampl, it would be nice to see what the results of each effect is before trial and error. It would be nice to have a website or manual that listed each effect and a before and after image after the fx is applied. Does this exist?

Thanks,
Troy

Troy, I don't know of this if it exists. I've wished for the same thing. Adobe products have this sort of thing in Bridge - makes it easy to browse and select from the various effects.

Yes, in the Vegas help menu.

The video FX window does exactly what you want.
From there you can drag and drop the FX onto a clip.

To add to what Bob said... This is one of the things that truly impressed me about Vegas. In Liquid one had to guess what it would look like. In Vegas you can see what type of effect will be applied to the clip (or transition). Even when you add extras like the free Wax plug-ins they show previews. Have some fun clicking around and checking out the effects.

Just in case someone gets the wrong idea the window in question shows you have they look on a stock image, not the currently selected clip. To see that you have to drop in onto the clip.

To be frank I've never actually used the FX window as I tend to shy away from using FXs apart from Color Curves, Color Correction and Gaussian Blur. The best FXs are the ones the viewer never notices.
