Defect: Vegas 22 resizes some clips from Vegas 21 projects

Andrew-Stevenson wrote on 8/24/2024, 4:16 PM

I loaded a project from Vegas 21 into Vegas 22. Some of the clips on the timeline are being scaled down rather than appearing full frame.

Vegas 21 the clip is full frame:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZpPZJoZov0q6qDDAreo2YkBpYkwQ3-Jb/view?usp=sharing

Vegas 22 the clip has been rescaled.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uJy5-k_i5tTD2NapzWtl_0kIDfV0d2T6/view?usp=sharing

This seems to affect random clips on the timeline, the majority seem unaffected.

I think this is an issue with proxies because it only happens in Draft & Preview.

This is the original clip:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hKPCcaeT3Ub58J4waJwsrTp24Xg-zPji/view?usp=sharing

Deleting the proxy (made in Vegas 21) and recreating it in Vegas 22 creates the same issue again.

Many other clips on the timeline have the same issue where the proxy worked fine in 21 but is way too small in 22.

Is there an FX on that clip?

If you open VP21 and your project is on the timeline, and you copy all, and then place it in VP22, does the problem still exist? What specific build of VP21 was the project completed in? And what are the clips that it happens with? What created them?

I just opened a project started in VP21 in VP22, and everything came over without any issues. Color Panel, Pan/Zoom, etc..

@Andrew-Stevenson Not seeing that issue here. But try directly copying over the project timeline as Reyfox suggested. I am sure there is a simple explanation why this is happening.

RogerS wrote on 8/27/2024, 1:07 AM

I've seen issues with VEGAS not accurately displaying aspect ratios of proxy files when the source is other than 16 9 in 22.

Can you share MediaInfo for your source file?

I am also not able to repro that up to now - also not with your test clip, and if I enable proxies and use the preview draft.

not a solution, but you're not alone! I have a similar issue with a v19 project that has a mask applied in the crop/pan window. I have to set the preview frame to full for it to be displayed correctly. the masks end up offset if I don't.

Just had this issue as well, and so far the 'best' solution is to use Preview FULL or Best Full quality.

@Zorac Yeah masking/proxies is broken in VP22, different previews depending on Best, and Preview/Full/Half/Quarter.

Also there's always been a logic problem with proxies. who on earth can't view a 720p xdcam proxy in full? and why would anyone want to view a 720P proxy in 180P? which looks to happen with Preview/Auto. Why does Vegas scale a proxy? It should deactivate for quality PREVIEW when proxies are enabled.

@Former user, that's good to know! It should be on the bug fix list somewhere, then. It's not the end of the world; it's just annoying. Hopefully, it will be fixed in the next update.
