Render it as a single MPEG file. At the end of each clip, the DVD player has to figure out what to do next, this will often involve the player looking to a different physical location on the DVD for instructions, which means a delay while the laser physically repositions itself to find the instructions. The player then has to read and interpret those instructions, find the new location on the disk for the next clip and move there.

Thanks Scott, why didn't I think of that? I guess that's why we have forums. Will let you know how it goes.

Assuming you are rendering in Vegas, be sure to insert markers at the chapter points in Vegas, and set the option to include them when rendering. Then they'll show up in DVDA when you go to author.

HI Dazza, (or anyone in the know) basically I have had a DVD "chapter" problem myself. I like making DVD's in AS with 6 chapters give or take. Several friends have told me not all chapters will play on their media center DVD players. I'm told 3 out of 6 will fail! (I know about equipment issues and the-/+ format with some DVD players but in almost all cases everyone will have some success regardless of their equipment.) Here then is my question for you! If you are now rendering your projects as 1 big Mpeg...do you not lose the desirable Chapter selection at the main DVD Intro Menu? Example: If I travel and make clips and pix of Italy, Germany, England, and France I want to have separate chapters for each location so viewers can "pick & choose" what area they want to see!. If, like you, I settle for one long mpeg and forgo the chapters at the main menu I lose the ability to pick and choose!!!! Is there another way? Help and thanks. kosmo007 "jking3@mindspring.com"

PS I'd appreciate if you could answer here on the forum and also copy me direct at my Eaddress.

Drag six copies of the media to the project overview window. Don't worry, DVDA is smart enough to know that it's the same, so it only physically loads one. Select each media one at a time and set the in-out points to just the chapter you want to show. Create a menu button for each chapter and point to the appropriate copy of the media. You could also have another copy for "play all".
