Sounds odd. But... I have occasionally accidentally deleted a track (or lots of them even) after I had forgotten I had just selected a lot of the tracks to do something else.

I suspect you also had the tracks all selected (on the left of the screen)... just deslelect the tracks and make the loop selection again and then hit the delete key.

Sorry for the stupid question but how do you De-Select a track?

Ctrl+left click on the track header (to select or de-select).

Ctrl+ left click on an event to select/de-select it.

Still can't get it to work!!!!

Can someone give the basic steps - can't find it in the Help file or SPOT's book
I use the Normal Edit Tool to mark a region and then Slect Loop Region = Skift + Q Then I deselect any tracks selected with Ctrl Left click then hit Delete but nothing happens!!

Okay, this should do it:

(using the normal edit tool)
1) Create your region
2) Shift+Q to select the loop region
3) Ignore the track headers - deselect the events that fall within the loop region (the ones you leave selected will be deleted).
4) Hit the delete key.

Step number 2 is usually redundant if you have only just created the loop region, in which case it will already be selected.

Hope this helps

ps when you do the delete step you need to hvae focus on the track view. Hit Alt+0 (zero). You know the track view has focus when the cursor line is flashing. If the track headers have focus, one of them will have a flashing line on the track number.
If neither of these are flashing it means focus is on one of the plugin windows or explorer etc

pps Alt+0 focuses to timeline from any window, but you can also use Tab key to alternate between timeline focus and track header focus.

In addition to the suggestions already given if you just want to delete across all of the tracks on the timeline a "ctrl-a" to select all of the tracks. This "selecting of tracks" is <different> than the task of selecting the "track headers" which puts the focus of the <deletion> onto the tracks themselves rather than the timeline.

I usually split the looped region at the beginning and end by hitting the "s" key. It deletes easier that way, but any of the various unintuitive methods should work.

What's intuitive about putting another step into the process?

Select the region and press delete - why split first?
