If I want to "clean up", the broom icon sweeps stuff from the Media Pool, but media is still on the Hard Drive if I want to re-introduce it. If I want to delete it I can do this outside Vegas.
In other words, only use the feature you are referring to if you are SURE you won't need the media again.
I use this feature on purpose all the time. I'll take a big project and use it to delete all the media. Then I close it without saving it. This way the media is gone but the project is still there to base a restore on later. The other safer way to do this is to save as a different name and then delete all the media. That way there's no risk of saving over your good timeline.
Because I actually use the feature I never delete the media by accident because I'm more alert to the possibility.
How about your bak.veg file? Can you open that up and then recapture the media?
I always use batch capture and save the capture definition. If it's a source clip from DV that gets trashed, I can use batch capture to go get it agian. If it's pre-rendered video, I've always got the .VEG so I just run that.
Media Pool > "Remove from project and delete files" also pops a confirmation dialog, with a big yellow warning triangle and a message saying the files will be deleted from the system. You opt to delete, you have to confirm you want to delete...Vegas deletes.
Agree with Lima 100%. if you see a warning as you described and then stupidly go ahead and do what it says anyway not knowing if you're sure you really want to isn't the fault of the application, its the computer illterate clicking the button.
What do you expect, a big sign like on Star Trek flashing RED ALERT and some whistles, bells and buzzers all going off at once?
You know what, knowing you Zippy, you STILL would have clicked.
Does seem he does this everytime he gets bored or frustrated. He was quiet for a while after his last success. Does this mean you are back to work, Zipps?
"Pull the strings and I'll dance for you. I'm your puppet."
Dang! What came over me? Am I in copyright trouble now?
