Deleting Events w/o effecting sound envelopes?

I have just finished editing my second VV production. I have finished everything, all Events and Envelopes, but now I have decided I want to cut out a whole minute in the middle of the video. I can't figure out how to delete this one minute of the video, the audio and the music without affecting the audio envelopes in the back half of the video. I want to delete this segment and have the whole back half of the video slide up so there is no black video area that is a whole minute long and, I don't want to have to go back and reposition all of those audio envelope points. The video is 1hr 53 min. and to have to reposition all of those envelope points will be a real hassle. Help!

First, make sure Ripple Edits are enabled in Options.
Second, make sure nothing is selected by clicking an empty spot on the timeline, NOT on a track, or by typing Ctrl-Shift-A to deselect everything.
Third, highlight the section you want to delete by dragging the mouse from the start to the end. You can reposition the edges as necessary.
Fourth, hit the Delete key to erase this section. Everything to the right will move backwards to fill in the deleted section, including markers and envelope points.

I tried your suggestion and it didn't work. The events were deleted and the ripple effect brought the front and back parts of the video together, but the envelopes stayed where they were and this causes me to have to go back and redo all the envelope points on the audio tracks. I tried the Lock Envelopes to Events button on and off and even the Ignore Event Grouping on and off. Nothing works. Is there something else to try?

Hi J,

Interestingly, when splitting the audio envelopes, extra nodes are not added at the split-point in the same fashion as when Velocity envelopes are split.

Therefore, you might want to highlight the range or set markers where you will be deleting, and set nodes on the envelope just before and just after the segment you will delete. Then you can kill and ripple the segment and the levels should hold. (One-frame off the split-points/markers should do.)

YOu do want "Lock envelopes to events" active.

Actually, after I tried several combinations of deleteing, the only thing that deleted was the audio envelopes. They moved over to the left by 1 minute and all the Events stayed put. I tried unlocking the events before and after the segment I tried to delete and that made a real jumbled mess. What if I, or can I, unlock all Events? Would that help?

I figured it out by helping another Forum user's question. Teaching sometimes is more of a learning tool than trying to work it out on my own.
I made the whole video one big group, unlocked the entire group, selected the area to delete and deleted the 1 minute worth of events. Ripple Tool On and Lock Envelopes to Events Tool On. Hit delete and BAM all the events and Envelopes were deleted. Thanks for the suggestions. jhubs
