Show-off!!! :O)

How do you like it?

I bought one and I do like it. Problem is it's not very good for watching DVDs or regular TV. I was told the reason why was that its resolution was too high for that kind of thing. But for editing it is very nice and I'm sure great of HD stuff as well.

Watching SD video on an HD screen looks terrible unless you have good scaling and deinterlacing. Some DVD players now do a decent job of both, and there are plenty of boxes to hook up to do the job too.

Did you use a software DVD player like PowerDVD or WinDVD? If so, which version?

Actually, I tried I believe powerDVD on the desktop- was okay but not great. Then tried s-video from dvd player (x-box)- was worse. Finally tried component from the xbox and it was the best of the options. STill not as great as it could be though I don't blame the monitor.

Forgot to say that I did also buy a Pantone Spyder2Pro Studio and will use it to calibrate the monitor as soon as I get a chance. Deadline coming up for my film festival and I'm no where near the rough draft. If you're interested, I could post the results.

It adds a whole new dimension to editing.... on such a wide screen. It could do with more component inputs (only has one set).... but apart from that I'm not complaining.

I have an Avel Linkplayer2 hooked up to it.. and that allows me to view HD material via the component inputs direct from my LAN or via files stored on DVD. That also does a good job of upscaling SD DVD's (looks better than simply connecting a standard DVD player to the monitor).
