Deshaker problems

I have followed John Meyer's directions and I keep getting an error message when I try to open an AVI file, I get a message like this:

"virtualdub cannot locate the decompresser"

Is VirtualDub supposed have the ability to open existing AVI captured files or do you have to capture them using Virtualdub?

I downloaded and installed the "stable" version (1.5.10), should I try the latest beta version or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

Actually if you just install either the Hufyuff codec or the Panasonic codec (free), that should solve the problem right there. You can open the avi directly.

Actually the link for the Panasonic codec in the DeShaker guide doesn't work. Try this one, it works: http://users.tpg.com.au/mtam/install_panvfwdv.htm

That worked.

Thank you for the help.
