Desync with video and audio after rendering.

Paul-Videtto wrote on 3/11/2022, 10:16 PM

This is now my current issue as posted below:

  • Appreciate the comments. As for the desync issue, the video would be behind the audio but only after rendering it. No desync was happening during the preview. This happened with multiple projects, one that was 2 minutes long. Another 25 minutes long. The desync was worse on the longer video. I checked to make sure audio and video were lined up proper. I tried removing audio and video effects I was using one by one after each render. Still desync, not better or worse. I tried rendering them with the same settings they started with. Not fixed still. I then tried to isolate the problem by converting one of them to .MP4 and have it maintain a constant frame rate using handbrake. Started a new project with it. No change. I also tried disabling resampling of everything I used in the project. Still not fixed. Since my question was answered here, I'll try that the next time I'm able to. Thanks.
  • Well I tried "enable legacy avc/hevc decoding" and this issue STILL persists. I am still getting desync. I'm at a loss. Spent so much time and money trying to stop this desync issue from happening and I haven't made a dent.

This was the original post:

I'm trying to toggle this option as a potential fix for a desync issue I'm having, but this option does not exist when I look for it. I have followed step by step instructions from multiple youtube videos and I still haven't managed to find it, and any other solutions I've tried to fix my desync issue hasn't worked.

Currently I'm using vegas pro 19 but this was the same thing with movie studio 17 platinum, which I previously had. This option just doesn't show up in the "Internal" settings.

I'll even link one of the youtube videos here to show you what I've been trying to access as well as this desync issue I'm having in the 1st place.

The 'Enable so4 compound reader for avc/m2ts' item was dropped (actually, altered) after Vegas Pro 17. Please see the comment by fr0sty (marked as being the solution) in the following thread:

https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vp18-and-so4-compound-reader--123108/ which reads:

They've moved it to file i/o in order to keep people out of internal preferences, which contain things that can break VEGAS if messed with. It's now "enable legacy avc/hevc decoding", which should always be off unless there's a problem that requires them.

Maybe explain the desync issue more in case there is a better way to fix it.
