How can I Determine 2 cross faded clips length?

I have 2 cips overlapped, both are 5 seconds long.

One is the master graphic and I want to swap out the 2nd graphic throughout the movie.

So I need to have the segway be the same lnght every time.

even if I could selct 2 or more cilps ans know the lenght of the selection

The easiest way to get EXACT length would be to simply put the two images next to each other (touching but not overlapped) and then press "/" on the numpad to add a dissolve. This dissolve length can be changed in the preferences.

Also, if you are adding a bunch of pictures of the same length, you can specify the length and overlap amount (also in preferences) and then just drag them all to the timeline at once.

To check the length of a crossfade just double click the fade and the region selection will be the crossfade. Then look at the time in the lower righthand side of the timeline and it is there. To make something like a crossfade or an event adhere to a specific length...

Select a time length by draging a time selection in the top of the timeline. The
new loop region can be adjusted to the length you desire.

Make sure that quantise to frames is turned on.

Make sure that snap to markers is turned on.

Now slide the time selection to to where the crossfade or event is desired. Simply drag the fade or event to the length of the time selectiion region and it will snap to the exact length.

The same time selection can be drug around and used over and over if you want something to be the repeated same length.

Thanks!

Are there any dissolves that look natural?

Fades are the only thing I have found to look subtile.
