Documentation for the camera should indicate the resolution that is used in creating the stills. My limited experience shows that VV3 captures the stills in the resolution that the camera created them.
VV does not "Capture" stills. Stills are simply files. Editing down from with VV will not modify the original file. For details on a particular still image, right click on it in the Media Pool (or on the event) and look at the Stream Properties.
Sorry to disagree, but that is not the case. That actually is my problem: I want to capture (from a JVC GYDV-500 DV Camera via firewire) a still the size of 720 x 480. I have tried; it does not work- comes in at about 320 x 240.
OK, sorry you are correct. The still size IS based off the preview window size like sonicepm said. But to get full 720*480 you also have to uncheck the pref in Options | Capture 'Apply pixel aspect ratio to captured stills' as well as makinfg the preview as large enough that it says 'Display 720*480' in the status bar.
