When I open Vegas Pro 15 on my Windows 10 laptop, everything works fine but the Device Explorer, which doesn't run correctly. The window shows this message:
Device explorer initialization failed and is not available
That message is linked to the Preferences. What's wrong? What can I do?
Do or did you had a memory card and/of any device connected?
Does the program start?
Actually, I didn't have any device connected but my internal hard disk: and that's my I'm quite surprised. I haven't got any other deviced plugged in.
Moreover, the program starts correctly except in that. I can browse effects and settings and so on.
What happens if you uncheck in View/Window/Device Explorer ?
Or is it already unchecked?
It is checked, and unckeching and then re-checking it doesn't change anything.
A friend of mine , wanting to learn vegas pro , had the same issue in vegas pro 16 .
We then , for trial , installed the vegas pro 17 trial and that immediatelly crashed after loading everything and before drawing the user interface !! So even worse and with the common known " vegas has stopped working " without error code .
It appeared to be a wrong driver for one of his USB hubs which all of a sudden was installed. ( the USB port was seen as an empty disk and showed as a disk in the devices )
After some trial and errors , I could eliminate that wrong USB driver and the explorer window in vegas 16 worked again and vegas pro 17 trial started and worked as well .
I thought this experience might be interesting for the development team to find out why vegas pro 17 completely crashes and correct that in a possible next build ( and version ... )
