My camera has been uploading video fine until tonight when it failed to recoginize it was plugged in. I tried everything the program told me and nothing worked. Then I even re-installed my IEEE driver and tried again. Nothing worked. Now it's late, and I'm tired, and I payed 80 dollars for my driver, 100 for the editing software, and around 300 for my camera. Someone has to have an answer for me.

PS: My computer said that my IEEE is working fine

Please help

Try hitting the play button, then plugging in the firewire. Once it recognizes the camera you can take control of it. If that doesnt work your wire may be bad. Maybe you can test it doing something else or on a friends computer?

What is the make of your camera? My father had an issue with a Canon camera. He was using VMS 6 Platinum and either the manual or the online help had the following solution for some Canon cameras. You need to make the capture start delay greater than 2 seconds. 1) make sure your camera and firewire are hooked up. 2) make sure your camera is set to "play." 3) launch the "capture video" application and select "use external capture application." 4) Options->Preferences->"Capture" tab check the "capture start delay" box and increase the time to 2 or more seconds. Not sure if this is the solution, but it's worth a try.
