Different behavior in VP18 from Movie Studio 17. Help, please.

I have a three-track video title sequence, including two editable text tracks, created in MS 17, saved as a file. Importing it into MS, all three tracks appear. Bringing it into Vegas 18, I get only one. I can Ctrl+A in MS and then paste them into Vegas, but I shouldn't have to. Are they simply not being revealed or something, or do I need to create a new file from the Vegas version?

Thank you.

You say you've saved as a file but what sort of file? A VMS "vf" project file or a video file?

What you're doing is called "nesting" in VP18, importing a whole project as an event. VP18 also can open the .vf files created with VMS17.

Hello, thank you for your response, and sorry for the oversight. The file is a .vf file. I see now that Vegas Pro uses .veg files. (can you tell I just got it?), so I presume the two are not necessarily fully compatible. Perhaps there is a thread I should be reading?

Thanks.

@Philip, are you "dragging" the .vf file to the timeline? If yes, you are NESTING the project instead of opening it. Right-click the file and choose "Open Project".

jetdv, that must be what I did. Selecting the file on my hard drive and using Open with [Vegas], opens the application with multitrack event group on the timeline in Pro. Thank you.

@Philip, open the help file and search for nesting. It's a feature in the pro version where you can pull a full project into another project but you'll only see a single video and audio track. You can tell Vegas to open that project if you need to make changes to it and then come back to the other project with those changes in place.
