I have DVD Architect Studio and each time you burn a disc, the opportunity to set the burn rate is given. I always change it to 4x which takes about 15-20 mins to burn. But every once and a while I'll forget and leave it at 16x. Could that be what's going on?

I'll give that a try, but it doesn't make sense. I believe that 16x speed is faster than 4x. Every other burn only takes 5 minutes for the same project. Shouldn't the time for each burn be the same? I have made copies of the same disc on another program and each copy takes the same amount of time, 13 minutes every time.

Do the DVDs that burn in 5 minutes play properly? Are all the files on the DVD? Do you have any other programs running at the same time as the burn?

Yes, the DVD's that burn in 5-8 minutes play fine. I do have other programs going at the same time. I'll try with no other programs.

Making a pure guess here, what happens if you render your DVD to hdd & burn that? I'm guessing that DVDA writes a temporary DVD, burns that the 2nd time, maybe re-writes it the 3rd?
