Does it always start with the same background? Is the background order with number of times menu is pressed consistant or random? Just wandering if the background is triggered randomly from time of day or something or is a circular buffer implementation.

Gold, Yes it always start with the same background. The backgrounds order is consistant everytime the Menu button is pressed. I play it on the DVD player, not the computer, so it wouldn't be triggered by the time of the day.

Also, when you move between buttons, the highlight moves with different tittle. For example: Button 1 - date 1901 to 1910, button 2 - date 1920 to 1930, ect...

It's pretty much like web buttons with OnMouseOver function.

Still wondering how.....

DN,
Interesting, if it were a back button or main menu button on the menu itself, one might accomplish the functionality by having a set of similar menus and linking to submenus that looked the same but actually had return functionally to a "different" main menu. Based on the fact that Sonic foundary is capturing the menu button and reacting differently (i.e., always returning to the top most menu rather than the previous one) this must be an option that the software sets (i.e., what to do when menu is pressed). If this is the case then multiple submenus masquerading as the main menu would do this. How about the menu system in Val Kilmer? They do similar things for censored and uncensored where there are different paths. Its either (1) that there is some RAM in the dvd drive similar to the registry in windows (I don't think there is?) or (2) that submenus masquerade as main ones using the same background video clip but different button actions. I really don't know, yet, when I have time I'll investigate, we need a copy of the API that the dvd uses to communicate with the dvd player.
later,

Star Wars II AOTC has 3 different menus that appear randomly. In DVDDecrypter I have seen the file structure (all titles are 'children' of all three menus) but I can't recallexactly how it goes... I would look right now but I'm burning a disk!

Get back to you. G

I'll check it out, I have a copy, by the way the rumor that star wars empire strikes back is hidden on one of the two as an easter egg is not true. DVDDecrypter? I'll check it out.
