Diffusion in Vegas similar to Magic Bullet Looks?

Hi All,
I'm using Vegas 7.0d (old computer) and tried the 'Black Diffusion 5.0" preset in the copy of Magic Bullet Looks that came with my copy of Vegas.
Nice look, but takes 28 minutes for a 1 minute test render! Not practical for a 25 minute interview, to say the least. Client is an attractive woman that just needs a bit of help in post.

Does anyone have settings in the Vegas Video FX panel that would come close to the same look?

I've played with glow, etc., but just not getting there.
My original material is DV widescreen shot squeeze mode on a DVX100a. Output will be MP4 or WMV for the web, and a DVD for the client..

Any help greatly appreciated.

Ken

Surely some of you FX gurus have done this before.
Please share that secret sauce.

I haven't been able to duplicate exactly, but the diffusion slider in Sony Soft Contrast can get you close.

Thanks atom 12,
David Jimerson came up with an elegant solution on another forum (not sure if I'm allowed to mention the name here).
It involves duplicating the track to one above the original and playing with brightness/contrast, gaussian blur and maybe levels; then lowering the opacity of the top track to allow as much of the original to show through as desired.
Did the trick for me. Much more control than MB and rendered in less than half the time.

(@ken, sort of)

the one thing i greatly admire about this forum (and by default scs) is the relative freedom it allows for not only damning the opposition along with vegas itself, but the mention of quite diverse products (and discussions thereof), along with quotes off other named boards...

good on ya scs forum admins - here one is at least allowed to speak ones mind - which is a great deal more than you can over at the cow....
