Digital Clipping

Hello,
When I am doing the audio in my project, and playing through a section I am aware that I don't want it to digitally clip, I think that is the correct term. I open the track compressor and while I am watching the piece and a red box appears in the master bus, I click the red box to reset it and the next time I watch the same piece it hits the top of the meter and the red box appears again. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to reset it every time I work on hte piece.

Thank you so much!

Clicking the red box does nothing except turn off the indication that you had clipped. It doesn't alter the audio at all. You need to lower the volume level in order to do that.

Depending on how many clipped points you have .. it may be eaiser just to put a volume envelope on the sound and then add control points to the envelope to pull the level down for a split second.

OR .. you can just lower the entire track volume with the sliders in box to the left of the track.
