digital proc amp

I have an analog proc amp I use when importing analog materials into Vegas via my Canopus 100. It's great for on-the-fly corrections. I now am using a digital cam to capture home movie transfers. Does anyone know of an inline digital proc amp I can plug in beteen the cam's firewire output and the computer firewire input, so I can have the same on-the-fly ability? Thanks.

Well procamps are really only a device for analogue video. They were traditionally use for correcting errors induced in cable runs.
Once you're in the digital realm their funstionality is no longer required. In fact to achieve the functionality that you're after does involve decoding / encpding the digital data stream which does mean quality loss and delay.
I'm certain you can get high end gear but that I suspect is all 4:2:2 and uses SDI, read costs a fortune!
However the Panasonic MX70 mixer might fill your needs. Be aware though the latency is pretty bad as is the control response time.

I'd think you'd get better results with Vegas's color correction and color curves tools AFTER you've captured the footage.

I have done ot both ways and haven't noticed a difference. Captured analog is never going to match up with digital video footage all that well. The Proc amp works better between Print to Tape and the VHS decks if you are dubbing and need slight corrections.
