If i were to get a Sony HDV handycam (HDR-HC1) in mind.... but not having a HD equipment... ( TV DVD etc) could I somehow "downgrade" to Digital quality and edit with VMS platinum 7? or get a better Digital camcorder (Which one?) and work in known territory with VMSpl. 7?
Right now I work with a Sony hi-8 3ccd sony camcorder.... working very well but for the low resolution..... the DVD quality is disappointing.....
I have to tape a wedding in May... and need practice...
Thanks to the experts out there who would share their views?

I don't have any HD equipment yet, but reading through these forums it seems the majority opinion is that shooting HD and then downconverting to SD while rendering is a very good way to go. Most people describe the resulting image very favorably. And, if you get the HD camera now, you'll already have it when you are ready to start making your final videos in HD.
