Direct To Edit Recorders

Has anyone had any experience using a Firestore FS-4 Portable DTE Recorder with Vegas? I like the idea of simultaneous record to tape and firewire disk. Tape can serve as the backup. The product claims to write in the native format used by Vegas, allowing the user to bypass the translation process and import the clips directly.

Greetings QueenGeek! I have used the Firestore with Vegas for bout 3 years now and love it!. Vegas 5,6,7 works very well with it. I have used Firestore for Weddings, and other 4 to 5 hr events and believe it was worth the steep price paid for the unit. After Firestore hook-up, Vegas see's it and ask's you what cha wanna do?-no more waitin around for 4,5, & 6 hours for tape capture(i used to wash my car or do laundry while waiting) 5hrs of tape loads up in minutes-editing can start immediately-once you try it you wont go back-When you pick one up-(dont worry about the price) and see 5hrs of your! own! clips load up in a few minutes and you can begin editing minutes! after the event!-you'll say like the rest of us who have firestore! ...Sweeeeeet!! (i dont work for Firestore or Sony Vegas but love both) Good Luck!-Ken

I'm kinda waiting for the Catapult from Bella. It looks interesting, but thus far, it's vaporware.

We must have gotten a VERY special deal, I'll have to check this out as I'm pretty certain we were told AUD 600, we did order it with a V1 so maybe it's a special packaged deal, it sure looks like it'll work very nicely with the V1.

$600 ?? Where from Bob? - www.videoguys.com.au are quoting A$2970, even when purchased with a V1.

I'll find out if the price I thought it was is for real or not tomorrow.
We added one to our V1 order, I was asked if I thought it was worth getting and when I asked how much it was I was told $600 and I thought eh, what the heck at that price how far wrong can you go.
If it really is around the $3K mark, hm, different story.
Maybe it was $2,600?

Bob.

It uses the "L" series batteries that work with many prosumer Sony cams. These Batteries have a great track record, unlike those made for laptops.
