DirectX 8.0 woes !

I have just installed (the unistallable) DirectX 8.0 and
ever since, when I start VA 2.0b it starts scanning for new
plugins (as it normally would when the registry has
changed), and then I get an Rundll32 illegal operation
message. If I press close VA opens normally. The detail of
the error is as follows;

RUNDLL32 caused an invalid page fault in
module KERNEL32.DLL at 0177:bff9db3f.

Vegas had been running great till now.
Any suggestions.

Yes.Do not use direct x 8!!!
Never use anything new from Microsoft, especially direct x programs
until they have killed all the bugs which is about a year after
release.Sometimes longer.Your software companies will tell you when
they feel it is stable enough to use with their software. At least I
would hope this.
Stick with 6.0 or 7.0.Seven still alittle shaky but has been working
under audio apps.
Cheers. :-)

That sounds like the old copy protection scheme used on Vegas Pro, I
would definitely uninstall Vegas and then re-install.
