Disapearing Sound During Playback in Vegas Video 4

I recorded a wedding with two identical DV camcorders. No I have fed the first 30mins of video from both cameras into my computer using Firevire.
I did the capture with vegas.
Now I have the two videos, one under the other, on the time line and have
synced the audio. But as I play the video the sound suddenly dissappears after about 10 seconds of play.
Then I stop playback and restart it and the sound is back. Then it does the same thing again. There is no problem with the audio on eather file. I have played them in media player 9.
My system is: Windows 2000 Pro on a 800MHz P3 133MHz bus
with 128Meg RAM and a 120Gig HD (7200 rpm).
There is nothing wrong with the sound card.
I have printed a small portion of the video back to tape and the sound is great!
Does anyone else have this problem? All help appreciated.
Please answer a quickly as you can. I must get this work done.
Thank you.

You may need to set your audio buffer higher in Options>Prefs>Audio device. It also may be you have a resource kicking in and killing your sound card for a moment, it may also be your vid card and sound card are sharing an IRQ and the vid card is stealing the resource. There are several explanations for this, the question is, which is the right one!?
Try using the Classic Wave Driver as well, but if your issue is resource share, this won't do anything for you. You also might try disabling the waveform draw so that Vegas isn't trying to draw waveforms during playback. Your system is somewhat undergunnedfor running 2 streams of vid and 2 streams of audio, although V4 will certainly do it.
