Disaster, I think

I used my soundblaster today and then, in order to store files into a lacie external harddrive, I went to the compatibility options code on SB and entered windows 98, as that is what the lacie uses..
Then I closed the program. When I tried to reopen it, I kept getting the message:
"This application is not properly installed. Please reinstall."
Which I did, both from the disc and then through the web. Same message continued to appear.
I then uninstalled the whole program (fortunately my files were backed up) and tried to reinstall it from disc. It seemed to go well. When I entered my serial number at the end, though, the SAME message came up!
I assume that the problem is related to the change in compatibility options, but I thought that could be overcome by uninstalling and beginning fresh.
Of course, there's no phone support available on a Sunday afternoon.
Any suggestions....?

After you uninstall and before you re-install, try running RegCleaner (a shareware utility) to wipe out the old registry settings (and get rid of any old, stray registry junk in the meantime).

You could also e-mail Tech Support. I'm sure there's a solution.

Thanks for the info. I actually emailed tech and they were basically helpful, but there were a lot of glitches and I called tech support instead. It took about an hour of real time walk through and help. It was a long story, but I'm up and running again. Thanks for everyone's help!
