Disaster In Vegas Video

Ethernetguru wrote on 8/6/2000, 12:08 AM
Hello,
I just finished a 20 hour edit for a client, and right
after I saved the .veg file, the software started crashing!
I am able to open other .veg projects, but when I try to
open "Glen.veg", the status indicator goes to 25%, then
pops up with an error message, then I get an invalid page
fault which closes the program. What is going on?! I HAVE
to get this rendered and printed to tape first thing this
week. ANY suggestions would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Chester

This has happened to me too many times to count
But in other apps too
Here is one trick that sometimes works:

Move the audio files related to that project to another folder

Open the *.veg file

Vegas will ask for the files for the project

show it to em, one at a time, and probably you will find that a
certain .wav file will be the culprit

open that file in some other program, and resave it...sometimes that
helps

good luck

next time, remember that people dont say: SAVE SAVE SAVE, BACKUP
BACKUP BACKUP
just for their health...but Im as guiilty about poor file management
as anyone else......do as I say not as I do :)

Hello Aaron,
Thanks for the suggestion. I will try that first thing in the
morning. Yeah, I know about file management. I had saved it several
times, but unfourtunatly, it was after something was corrupted, as
the backups wouldn't open either! Oh well, I've learned now! Thanks
again!

You also might try re-saving the project after you have cleaned out
the media pool (sweep button). This removes media not used in the
project. Sometimes when media on networked drives is unavailable you
will see errors similar to those below.

Thanks for the help Dave. I certainly appreciate it. It seems to have
cleared up the problem.
