Is your DVD player compatible with burned DVD's? If it is more than 2 years old - you may have more problems.

Have you tried playing that DVD in other DVD players?

Some DVD players are compatible with DVD+R and not DVD-R. Which version are you burning?

Try burning Re-writebale DVD's (DVD-RW or DVD-RW) disks until you get it right (use the most apprpriate version for your burner and DVD player).

I did a dvd+r, I had done a dvd+rw before and those did not work.

I just love how the manuals with the software don't even discuss this issue.
I'm about to set fire to this _ucking software I'm so frustrated with it.

Older DVD players in particular sometimes have trouble with certain formats. One good place to check out your DVD player is over at VCDHelp, where they mantain an extensive peer to peer compatibility list of which CD/DVD players are capable of playing what format and to a more limited extent which media has been tested.

What software are you using to burn your DVD's?

Do you only get "disk error" if so what or a more cryptic message?

Have you tried to see if it plays from your PC?

Do you have the latest firmware? (check your drive's web site)

What steps are you using to burn your DVD?

Have you tried more than one brand of media?

How high a bitrate are you using?

Ok............I just went out to the car to try that dvd player and it works fine. the only other dvd player in the house that I have is indeed about 3 or four years old, I even tried my PS2 and that did not work probably because it is older as well.

I'm burning at like 2.4, burning with dvd architect studio, latest firmware, it always works fine off the pc, and I have only tried TDK discs.

I'm gonna go to my neighbors and try his newer dvd player. I will def. use that site you gave me. Thanks for your help.

Last year a report showed -R to be more compatible than +R; I think the numbers were something like 95% to 85%. Also, it does make a difference which brand you burn. I love the Ritek G05 (8x) product and it's been bulletproof for me over hundreds of burns. If you buy then at places such as www.meritline.com they're also dirt cheap--$.35 each in quantity.

As I think you have just found out... the problem is not with the _uking software.... it is with the DVD player and/or the brand of DVD disks you use.

You do NEED to spend some time researching this issue. DVD (disk) / Player compatability is just about the number one issue that is talked about when producing burned DVD's.

I just wish that the product you buy would include some manuals that were a bit more helpful.

Thanks for the help guys.
