Disc Space Reading False in DVDA?

First of all I saw this thread, but thought my problem although somewhat similar to be a little different: http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?ForumID=22&MessageID=586806

My problem is that I render a video to MPEG2 and when I look ath the file it's only 1 gig. However, when I open the file in dvda 4.5 the disc space shows 7.5 gig. What's strange is that although I see the msg to compress I skip it and the dvd burns fine. The only reason I'm posting is because I had a similar problem earlier on a even smaller file and dvda showed the disc space size as over 5 gig. When I looked at this file on my system it was only about 500k.
So my question is: what's up with these obvious false readings?

Thanks,
Troy

What file was 500K?

If you look at the calculations in that thread you referenced, you'll see that a 500K file is almost definitely not an MPEG2 -- least ways not a DVD compliant one.
