display preview on external monitor

what kind of card do you need to display the preview in
full screen on an external television monitor without
hiting the CPU to much.

I currently have a Matrox G400 and have the preview on the
second monitor but with anything other a small window i
lose frames on playback

some kind hardware DV capture card i suspect.

Can someone who is currently doing this give some examples
of what to look for.

Thanks

Pyro DV cards work great- you hook the cable from the card up to your
camera, then camera out to a monitor- excellent picture, cheap
solution.

ok Ive done some homework and learned a bit about OHCI DV capture
cards. And I found a few cheap ones that would seem fine. But the
problem is I dont have a cammera or DV Video deck.

I just want to see the preview on a television monitor. I dont
particularly want to capture or rerecord to DV tape.

My clients usually bring me the Files on a CD for me to do audio
sweetening.

I have a VCR with just RCA type video jacks. So from what I can see
so far I either have to buy a camera or DV Video deck and a DV
capture card in order to see the preview on an external monitor.

If thats the way it is, then fine just so long as I know.

PS. will getting a DV capture card take the load off the CPU for the
preview.

Sorry I am new to the Video world.
