display size preview

After rendering and burning my first project to DVD-R. Some of the text I have created runs out of the screen size. Should I check the display at project size box and increase the safe zone area. When I do check the display at project size option in the video settings it seems dependent on the preview screen size as to what fits in. What should I do to get an accurate view of where things will fit?

Hi Michael,

The two boxes in the safe-area overlay represent two regions:

The smaller box is commonly called "title-safe": where titles are most likely to be visible on most sets. Since titles are usually vital to content, they require a wider margin of error to assure visibility.

The larger box is commonly called "action-safe": where the onscreen action is most likely to be visible on most sets; since it is usually related to character or camera movement, it enjoys a smaller margin of error.

Your most accurate view will be to view your titles on your TV set. Although it's great to view it on the computer monitor so that the preview goes faster and you can judge the flow better, you need to actually output it to your TV to make sure your titles are exactly what you want and color effects are what you expected. (And I always allow for a small margin of error since many sets display slightly differently).
