Display stutters on m2t files (cineform needed?)

Downloaded some HDV m2t files and the edits don't show, while the display plays at like 1 frame a minute.
I have a CPU above 2.6 GHz and about a gig of ram.
Is this what the cineform is needed for?

I may stick in DV if this is what HDV comes to. Thinking of buying the FX1 but I need to know I can edit the stuff. Have been unable to find a recoomended post solution yet.

Cineform will convert the m2t files to dv-avi for viewing on the timeline. If you have the MY-HD 120 video card you can change the file ending to tp and view them on an HDTV.

I've yet to see anything that can play back a transport stream without stuttering, or rather, full frame rate. This is one of the things that Cineform brings to the table, among other things.
Vegas edits HDV just fine, and Cineform makes it sweet. You'll likely not get 29.97 on a 2.6 gig proc, unless it's a really tweaked out system, but you'll get reasonable framerates. You should be sure your preview is set to Preview/Auto.
Transport streams are not meant for editing. This is why all the currently ready HDV editing solutions use intermediaries like Cineform or Lumiere.

THanks Spot.
One thing I just noticed was the requirements for Vegas with XP SP2.
I am still on win2000, maybe that contributed as well.
