Did you capture this directly from a DV or Digital8 camcorder via Firewire? Was the audio distorted on the original tape? Describe the distortion and what you think may have caused it. Depending on the distortion, it may be fairly difficult to get rid of with a plug-in.

I recorded the video directly to my PC from my VHS player/recorder. I have an ATI Radeon 8500DV graphics card that has the Audio Right, Left and Video-in (RCA cables) for analog recording.

The distortion is constant throughout the video. The audio sounds like it is saturated especially when people talk. The video sounds this way when it is captured or played back. I just don't have the understanding of the Audio FX plugins to know which one may help this problem yet. I don't think it is a capture problem, it seems like the source tape is the problem.

Thanks,

Steve

Have you listened to the recording by just playing it back from the VHS player into a TV? Is it distorted? I don't have a Radeon, but it may be as simple as adjusting your audio input levels to the Radeon when capturing. This can probably be done by using the Windows Volume Contol applet. Check your documentation.

Like I said, distortion is difficult to remove after the fact, there is no plug-in specifically designed to do this.
