Divx and Xvid on Vegas

An acquaitaince wants to know if you can throw Divx or Xvid stuff on the timeline. I guess he is trying to put together a family video and he has received stuff in a whole lot of different formats etc.

On my systems DivX works fine in Vegas but XviD may cause problems.
But whenever possible I try to avoid both DivX and XviD.

Does vegas work with divX right out of the box or do you have to download anything else to have oit to run? ie:you have to download quicktime for vegas to use it.

You have to install the DivX Codec and it should be the last VfW codec installed on your system..
