DJ Double Alpha Swipes with V8Pro...

I am trying to get the Digital Juice Double Alpha Swipes working in Vegas 8.

When I follow the **exact** procedure stated at:

http://www.digitaljuice.com/dj_training/detail.asp?sid=245&sortby=&page=2&rpid=0&rvid=0&swid=0

..it's not working right.

Short version of the problem: Clip #2 shows too soon.

Could there be a critical step that is missing? Seeing that (incorrectly) they called the Mask generator setting "Luminance Map," instead of "Luminance Mask," who knows what else might be wrong.

Here is a sample of the issue: http://home.comcast.net/~kentwolf/DoubleAlpha-SwipesSample.zip

My timeline layout is here: http://home.comcast.net/~kentwolf/20080618SwipeIssueScreenCap01Edit01.jpg

Thanks!!

layer 3 has an alpha channel so it will show transparent to the non-childed layers bellow it. replace it with a video & it should work fine.

I believe you are correct. I followed the tutorial on the DJ site and it worked exactly as they explained. I used video where they said to use video. As TheHappyFriar said, if A and B have an alpha channel then that's your problem. try using real video (or turn off the alpha channel) and it will work fine.

Thanks much guys. I will take a look when I get home.

Originally, in place of the A, B visuals, I had 2 PNG sequences and they did each have an alpha channel.

I hope this was the missing element.

Thanks again!

I didn't have any of their swipes so I use some generated media & my video on the top track kept disappearing. :)

Well... (now home)

When I turn off the alpha on both my A and B clips, all does work as it should (as the tutorial shows).

Interestingly, I received a note from Digital Juice Tech Support on this issue and they responded with:

"In reference to your request the new release of Juicer 3.2 will be able to fix the issue and the softwares is due to launch in a weeks time."

...so maybe it is *supposed* to work with A and B footage with an alpha channel. Originally, this problem came to light seeing I was working with two (2) PNG sequences *with an alpha channel*.

Hopefully this will be resolved in the Juicer release.

Thanks for the input, guys.

(Update: Actually, just turning off the alpha channel on just the A clip makes all work as it should.)
