Do Date and time in the DV be captured?

Hi,

Does anyone know if I capture the video from DV by using Vegas Movie Studio, will the date and time, which is implicitly in the tape, be captured in AVI file as well?
If yes, can I obtain these information from the captured AVI file by using the Vegas Movie Studio? I want to have this information in the DVD too. Please advice.

Thanks.

In reading your post I wasn't sure if you meant capture the date/time in the actual video, or as metadata somewhere so you can use it on the DVD (like in a chapter name or something).

If you mean the former, then there are ways to setup various recording devices to capture video with the date/time stamp in the video itself, I would suggest looking into that with your equipment. There may also be programs that will "imprint" the date/time into the media as you capture, but if so I don't know which programs personally.

If you mean the latter, then I have seen some folks state that the date/time stamp metadata is provided by VMS when you view the media's detailed properties in the media bin, but I have not found that to be reliable. I am currently using a very common freeware capture program, "WinDV", which will put the date/time stamp in the filename as it captures the a/v stream. I then carry that forward to us in my project as I wish.

Hope this helps.
