you dont need a code to capture HDV. but you do need to use the internal capture rather than using the external Vid cap like you do when capturing regular DV. there should be a box that comes up when you select the capture button that asks you which you want to use.
other than that some people have had driver issues with there computer recognizing the HDV cam. If you do a search Spot has a solution for fixing this.
i knew it , besides the serial no u do need an activation code from sony,i guess they r worried for hackers, anyway my hdv is working and vegas recognises my camera thanx a ton. neil
When you first run Vegas it will ask for your serial number and then offer to activate it online. This will obtain and install the activation code for you automatically. If you didn't see this step then it's possible you have a cracked version.
You might also want to consider updating to 6.0d. It's free for registered users.
By the way, version 6d has been available for a while. Look at the top of this forum or use the Downloads menu (go to Updates) at the top of the screen. Check to see if you're up-to-date with DVD Architect too (if you have that).
