Do I need to download Batch Converter for Vegas to work properly?

I reinstalled Vegas to another drive and now it was working fine until i sent it back to cam. but then it freezes and drops frames. I wondered if it is because I didn't install batch converter. I never knew what to do with the batch converter the first time so I didn't install it this time. Please help me.

I don't think the batch converter has anything to do with it. Don't know that it does much for Vegas at all, but it's great for Sound Forge.

I too have trouble writing to cam. The problem started after I upgraded to Vegas 3c (from V2). Something must be weak in the chain or protocol between Vegas and Firewire. Many people have problems that seem to occur more or less randomly. I'll be trying another IEEE 1394 card next week, but my hopes are not high.
