Do I really need a DVD-R in order to burn and play my projects in a dvd player (countertop and computer). A couple of people have told me that all I need to do is to have my final project in a VCD format and use a CD-R or CD-RW to burn my project. As long as I dont go over the capacity of the CD, I will be ok they said. How true is this; can anyone outline the process of producing movies that can be played in dvd player???

Thanks a lot in advance.

Happy Editing

You can burn a VideoCD in VF, and that will work in many DVD players, but it will not be the same quality as a true DVD.

www.vcdhelp.com is a great place to learn about this complex subject-

First, edit and produce your video in SF Video Factory to an AVI. Use that as your master. Then, open it in Ulead DVD Movie Factory and it'll encode it to VCD or SVCD (their codec is pretty good). I've even played around with bitrates in their templates and made some good-looking XSVCDs. You can then choose where and how many chapters you want to make, add background picture/music (theirs or yours) and an intro video, even. Finally, it'll burn it for you. I'm rather pleased with the program and I'm not even making DVD's yet.

Your friends are absolutely correct. VF will make very good quality VCDs for you that you can play in most DVD players. When you are done editing your video, do the following:

1. Choose the "Make Movie" icon.
2. "Write your movie to Video CD or CD-ROM."
3. Select "Create a Video CD."
4. Format = MainConcept MPEG-1
5. Template = VCD NTSC

Good luck!!!
