It's a tool in the toolbox, it's useful when needed.
*For long time I didn't have nor a jig saw nor a "dremel" , then I spent ~$30 on each, still never used ...
Few years went and I had to do some work at home ... done! . If I had to call for a handyman for job it would cost much more in time and $.

I have no idea, I didn't have to put any S/N, once I was "in" my Magix, it accept the upgrade.
Still, I think that even for $30, you should get Vitasene,

I always thought that the Vitascene 5 in VdL 26 Premium is only suitable for VdL 26 and not suitable for NLE's with an OFX interface.

From ProDad's website, a purchase of Vitascene does not seem to require a choice of the host NLE in order to buy (like with Neat NR and others). Indeed, their website states:
VitaScene benefits from extensive hardware support, making it particularly powerful and fast. This guarantees efficient post-production, whether you're working with editing solutions from Grass Valley, Adobe, Blackmagic Design, Corel, Cyberlink, Pinnacle or with MAGIX Video Deluxe, Pro X or MAGIX VEGAS.
Because in these editing solutions, Vitascene V5 functions optimally as a plugin, directly integrated into the workflow.
But there is a free trial so that can be tested in your NLE before spending money.
@FayFen Thank you for the tip. I wouldn't have known otherwise. I upgraded my Video Pro X. VPX17 Ultimate comes with almost every Prodad product. I also upgraded some New Blue Effects collections for $20 each.
I can confirm that the Vitascene bundled with Video Deluxe works fine in Vegas Pro 23
I bought Magix Movie Studio 2024 Suite which came with Vitascene V5 Pro. It is working in Vegas and Resolve. But I think that Mercalli can be product specific.
Also, SpeedR, Disguise and Hide are all standalone packages, and so work happily as well. The bundled Mercalli, on the other hand is NOT the OFX version, but a 'MAGIX plugin' which does not work with Vegas Pro.
