Indeed I read on this site ( dated August 2015) that GPU acceleration is no longer recommended . . . but as often the case, it didn't "exactly" say that - leaving one to wonder if a "Faster PC" with more-cores and 64-bit OS + oodles of Memory . . . . is better than paying "lots" for a power-hungry graphics card.
That SonyC has been reluctant to state this ( or rec. a decent Graphics card for movie-Renders ), is a shame and leads on to wonder "Why?".
I'm thinking of upgrading my PC to WIn10 when that becomes the de-facto standard although I realise it's really an improved interface for Desktops but closer to WIn8 inside. I've been told that 2D movies require only 1G of memory in the Graphics card, which may explain why my system is a tad slow having only 500Mb Graphics card. Maybe an upgrade now, isn't worth the risk of upsetting the Computer.
It's somewhat confusing knowing where to put money to get the best performance ( & Render quality, ultimately ).
+ Another reason for a new PC 64-bit is for Spectral layers, probably in 2016.
