Is there any info on when VV4 will be released, as I figured it would have to be due any time soon? Any news on upcoming new features? Like After Effects plugin compatabilty and integrated DVD burning.....ok...I am probably dreaming here. Not that I am rushing Sonic Foundry, as we don't won't another Acid4 type rushed job ;)
Don't bet on AE plugin capability. From what I hear there are so many legacy issues involved with porting thes plugins to Vegas that it harm Vegas' performance.

Maybe this is just a dumb thread ... at least until SoFo participates.
What I would like to see here is:
- The list of all improvement requests that appeared in this Forum, not fulfilled by Vegas 3 ("no, no, me not do it, me too too lazy").
- The list from SoFo, of forthcoming improvements that Vegas is preparing for VV4.
Dream on ...
Well, even SoFo could see a commercial edge in it, announcing the new features right now, and at the same time announcing a rebate on the upgrade to VV4 to those Customers buying VV3 now.
Let us wait for the feedback from SoFo. Or else, let us keep on talking to ourselves.
I, like all of us are anxiously awaiting the release of VV4. My credit card will be out pretty much the second it is released. With that being said, I can certainly understand Sonic Foundry's reluctance to offer up any details on the release. If the rumors that spring of 2003 is planned for the release are true than I imagine that they are still in developement and testing stages as of now. It would be risky for them to announce any specific date much less any promises on the expected features. What would happen if they came out and said that the release will be Feb of 2003? Even if they advertised a upgrade rebate for new VV3 purcheses I would imagine that the VV3 sales would still drop for people are often untrusting of rebate promises. Also, what if they ran into a problem during testing and they couldn't release it at the time they said? That would give the impression to some that they break promises and are not that stable. And the same goes for releasing info about specific features. Could you imagine if they said they plan to incorporate say DVD authoring and then, due to whatever, couldn't come through? Remember, Sonic Foundry is a Public Company, they have to be extremely cautious, especially in todays market, about making promises that they are not 100% sure they will be able to keep.
So until VV4 actually does come out I will continue plugging away at good ole VV3. There are a few features that I am anxious to see in VV4 but, to be honest, I don't think that I have learned even half of what VV3 has to offer yet. So, edit on and be patient friends, -Shon
Actually, I am expecting good things on 1 April 2003.
Hmm!
Does anyone beside me remember the Osborne line of portable computers? Osborne1 was the very first "luggable" portable computer. About the size of a sewing machine in its "portable" case. Wonderful, in its day. Great engineering, for the time, and a quality product at a reasonable price (about the price of a VW Beetle, then).
Well, Adam Osborne was trying to make a name for himself, so he announced the successor of the Osborne 1. It was to be called the Vixen. It was also not due for something like 6 - 9 months.
Well, in that waiting period his sales dropped to ZERO, and his company no longer exists.
SF, Keep your mouth shut, and just keep on working! We'll be here.
