Does anyone here have an HP dvd200e?

When you attach an external dvd writer do you have to do something to make DVDA recognize it? I can use it with other programs but not DVDA. When I try to burn a disc I can not choose a device or speed.
I have to present this documentery tomorrow to my funders and can't get a single copy made. ok, If anybody can help PLEASE let me know.

Windows XP
2 gigs ram
tons o' storage
and everything is fine, just can't figure this out. (and I'm sure it's so basic that I'll kick myself for it!)

Takk,
Jason

Jason,

Do you open DVDA when your HP drive already attached, or do you attach HP after you open DVDA?

And, is it USB or i.Link connection?

Hi, thanks for responding.
The drive is attached prior to starting DVDA and it is USB.
I also thought there was a conflict between my burners (DVD+ and CD-RW) so I disconnected the IDE cable from the CD-RW, and disconnected all hardware in BIOS so the could all be recognized again(alt e, alt f). No change.

I even removed roxio cd creater from the system to eliminate a possible DLA conflict, but again---nothing.

The drive is recognized in the OS and I could copy files with other programs. I then removed all of the HP programs and reinstalled---still nada.

I can play cd's in the DVD drive but cannot write. I went into properties and enabled writing. hmmmmmmmm.

I think that's mostly everything I've tried. I just can't get DVDA to recognize the drive.

If you can think of something else, let me know.\
thanks again!

I have the 200 and the 300...they both work- I use the firewire port not the USB- no problems- internal is a Sony DRU-500 with no problems

AzEdit, have you ever tried to use it with USB and did you have to do any special configuration? Do you have multiple burners connected?
This is such a strange problem and I know it's very basic. I have been going through a process of elimination for two days now and I'm at a brick wall.
hmmmmmmm,

I have 1 internal HP200 and 3 external HP300s, the 300s are connected using the USB2 ports with a USB2 Hub,since I ran out of USB2 ports. I use Record Now Max that will allow you to burn up to 16 DVD drives at the same time.
