I am puzzled by the following message after opening Sound Forge 6.0 from the Vegas Video 4.0 timeline, performing a sound edit, and then closing Sound Forge. I saved as an .AVI type file with "default template (uncompressed)" selected.
"The file has been saved in a compressed format. The sound of the file may have changed due to the compression. Re-opening the file will allow you to hear any changes that may have occurred. Would you like to close the current window and re-open the file now?"
Is this just a one-size-fits-all generic closure message or is compression of audio/video of some sort actually occuring?
I would like the extra power of being able to edit audio in Sound Forge from within Vegas but it is not worth it if I am going to lose quality from some sort of compression. I need help on this as my video is not that high a quality and I just can't be sure whether I'm perceiving a video or audio loss now that I've got that message on my mind. Thanks!
