I can't figure out how, or if one can make multiple passes with NR 2 in V4. I know it can be done when exporting to Sound Forge but I have Sonar ( and I can't see paying for Sound Forge just to do multiple passes ). Can I not do this in V4?
TIA,
Randy
FWIW, think the plugin will work with anything that accepts DX audio plugins. Perhaps it's because coffee hasn't taken effect yet, but unsure about the multipass stuff... unless you're talking about chaining or something. Plugin looks the same in Sonar as in SoundForge to me...
Thanks Mikkie,

If I try to reduce noise by more than say 12db, I start getting artifacts (especially noticable in music); however if you can make 2 or 3 passes of 4 or 5 db reduction it tends to not screw up the wanted material. I remember a friend of mine was able to do this in Sound Forge (the GUI is different in Sound Forge from V4 or Sonar).
Thanks again Mikkie,
Randy
I've had good results from inserting 2 or more copies of the filter in series. This is the same as making multi-passes. As you mentioned this was more effective than one filter trying to do too much.
One trick to try is to save your NR2 settings as a preset (the little floppy disk) and then use the preset for the second and third filters. I keep one preset for the motor noise from my DV camera for instance.
You can apply multiple instances of a plug-in in a chain. If the processing gets too heavy for realtime computation, use the "Apply Non-Realtime Effect" command on an audio context menu.
