Does Vegas Video import/export marker scripts?

When I capture video, I need to nclude markers in the video file. SoundForge exports them beautifully into a text file, for Windows Media Indexing. Why doesn't VV do that? Or does it? Is there a simple workaround? As it stands now, I have to manually mark the times for editing, and then copy/paste the times from the window into another text file and edit it from there. Annoying. Any ideas?

thx.

You can copy them all at once to the clipboard from the Edit Details window (put it in "Markers" mode).

Right, copy the marker fields out to a text editor, edit whatever you want, and when done, paste them back into edit details, done.

I'm hitting CTRL+K, but I can't place the markers with any predictability. sometimes it skips lines in the edit details window. this would be a really cool feature for entering a pre-typed transcript into Vegas as marker names. I guess this works if you follow the intructions to the letter but it only seems to work once. then you have to start over and re-paste the data if you make a mistake. it would be great to be able to somehow pick up anywhere in the script and start hitting CTRL+K to place the lines.

I have a different method of entering transcript, but this wouldn't give you closed captions. I play the timeline and enter transcript on the fly by hitting 'M', typing what I hear, and then hitting enter. I usually enter a sentence in each marker. if I get behind, I hit CTRL+SPACE (I have set to play/pause) and continue typing until I catch up. then I hit CTRL+SPACE again to start the video. you can get into a rhythm and do the whole thing without touching the mouse. when you are finished, you have the whole video transcribed and synchronized. if you need the script, you can copy the whole thing out of the edit details window. I use the script along with the marker time column to drive a scrolling-transcript engine which displays the script in time with the video.

it's just like closed captions, but in a separate window where you can read what came before and after and click on any sentence to jump around in the video.

still, I'm glad the CTRL+K feature is in there it is very useful.
