Dolby License

Does anyone know what kind of Dolby License is included with Vegas+DVD Ver 7/4.

Is it a commercial license that allows copies to be sold or is at a consumer license that does not. I ran into this issue using Avid Liquid that advertise Dolby 5.1 capability on the box but says consumer license only buried in the details and I want to make sure I can legally sell discs encoded with Dolby 5.1 soundtracks with Vegas+DVD.

You can use the technology. You CAN NOT use the LOGO.
But you can email them and they will send you the paper work. You then
have to send them a sample for approval.

Here's a post on a user's experience:

but use this Dolby link:

So you are saying it is a commercial license, where is that in writing?

i'm having a hard time finding the EULA specifics on the plugins. It was easily available online when SoFo was in charge but it's all replaced by a generic EULA for all the software now.

Here's what in my V6 MANUAL (check your vegas manual, the vegas 5 EULA changed the mp3 rights from V4). It just talks about the code, NOT what's created. the mp3 EULA specifically says you can't use it for "revenue generation", the dolby does not, so it's assumed you can use it for whatever you want.

many people have with no repercussions so far.

If in doubt contact Dolby.

There is a Motion Picture Service Agreement (MPSA) but I think
that is for the printed film track or digital cinema use.
I have never, sadly, been involved in a project that went to film so
can't give you more info.
