The effect can be achieved by using VV's masking tools, the mask generator plugin on the event itself or by using the Parent/Child mask with the globe footage on track three.The trick is to isolate the stuff you want out of the picture so the other track is visible.

I don't know what you mean by 'watermarking' though. Do you want the troops to be marching on the spinning globe like in the old newsreels?

What I meant about the troops (watermark) is they just blend in with the map of the world.

Change the opacity of one or both tracks. Simple way, move your cursor over the very top of a video track hover a second, cursor should change to a hand with a finger pointing plus a double headed arrow. Click at extreme top of track, holding down left mouse button drag the blue line you should now see downward.
