Double layer discs not recognized by DVDA

~i'm using DVDA studio 2.0 and instead of optimizing the bit-rate of the project to make it fit on a standard 60 min disc., i chose to get some double layer writable DVD's which offer twice as much space as the standard discs. i have an HP Pavilion with a double layer DVD+ drive so i thought "perfect!". however . . .

when i press the "finish" button to burn the project to these discs. i get a message that reads: "This application does not support CD-R/RW media. Please insert DVD media." IOW, DVDA is not recognizing the Double Layer DVD media.

any of you folks with double layer DVD drives run into this and/ or know how to resolve it? the discs i bought were Verbatim DVD+R DL.

. . . yet i remember when i took the 4.7G disc out and put the 8.5G double layer one in, a whole new host of burn speed options came up as if the software DID partially recognize the media.

???

UPDATE: just saw on another thread "DVDA doesn't like Verbatim."
anyone had experience with this or other brand double layer discs?

I just burned 3 Verbatim 2.4 +R discs no problem. You have to go to file, preferences, master and set the layers to 2. Then go to options and set the burn disc to 8.5. I have DVD-A 3c.

To the best of my knowledge, DVD Architect Studio 2.0 does not support double-layer discs. DVD Architect 3.0 (full version) does. I'm not sure about DVD Architect Studio 3.0.
