Down Rez from 1080p to "DVD Artchitect NTSC Widescreen" causes crash

cspvideo wrote on 12/10/2016, 7:55 AM

I am not able to render from a completed 1080p project to the DVD Architect codecs in NTSC. The software crashes. My work around is to output the project as a blu ray and use the previous version of Architect to render the NTSC version. The current version of Architect crashes as well. The old version does not. I've let Vegas file its reports. Anyone have ideas?

Render to a Vegas friendly format such as MXF. Then render that for DVDA. Hopefully that will solve your problem.

In theory, isn't the DVD Architect NTSC a Vegas friendly format? And thank you for suggestion. I will try that. And, for the record, this worked in 13 and previous versions.

Other alternative way: Try set DRAM to 0, then try again.

CSP: Are you letting DVDA do the rendering? Or is it Vegas that is crashing as you render?

You should never let DVDA do your rendering, Vegas does a better job.

cspvideo wrote on 12/10/2016, 11:31 AM

My normal work flow is to let Vegas render everything. When I try to render to the specific ntsc format made for dvda it crashes.

For resizing and interlacing is DVDA a better choise.

The suggestion to set the DRAM to 0 did the trick on the first project. On to the second.

Thanks to all for the input.

It seems there's an issue on downconverting the resolution, which makes the process freeze... even just downconverting-rendering from 1080-50p project to 720-25p results in freeze... (With DRAM 200) - I thought it was rendering to MPEG2 dvd issue, but it is a down-res issue.
