Download 2.0b

What is the secret to downloading this update? I just received VF2.0 as a gift and have registered it via the internet. When I try to download the update, I'm sent to a page where I enter name, email, etc. Then I'm sent to the download page again. The only option I get is to re-enter name, email, etc. then I'm sent to the download page again. I'm stuck in an infinite loop it seems. Anyone have any suggestions. I requested email support over the weekend but have not received any reply.

Also, I can't register the MPEG1-1 plugin. I get an error screen that indicates it's the "Wrong Product" and to retry later. I've retried for several days now with no luck.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Do you have cookies enabled in your browser? Sonic Foundry's download
pages check for a cookie with all that information you entered before it
will let you download the file. If you have cookies disabled, then it won't
find that info and will keep asking you for it again and again.

I heard a neat little trick once that i've been using ever since. This only
works in Netscape, but if you really hate the idea of cookies, you can
edit the cookie file, delete all the entries, save it, then change it to
read-only. After this, Netscape caches necessary cookies in RAM so that
things like the Sonic Foundry download will work properly, but no cookies
are stored on your drive after you quit Netscape. Cool!

For MSIE, i just make it a habit of erasing everything in the Windows
cookies and temporary internet files every day as part of my normal
system maintenance.

Thanks chienworks,
I don't think it's a cookie problem. I used both netscape and IE with the same results; but thanks for that tip. I'll try it in netscape next time.

I was finally able to get the update and resolve my mpeg registration difficulty. It seems to be a problem when I try to get the update from VideoFactory's Help menu link for updates. It takes you directly to the update page. I finally just went to www.sonicfoundry.com and drilled down to the updates from there. Once I did that I had no problem.

Thanks again.

How did you solve the registration problem? I am having exactly the same difficulty?
