Download server slow!

Purchased the v7 update and download speeds from the server are slower than a modem connection! Tested this by going to other download sites (e.g., download.com). I suppose many people are trying to do the same thing? While I'm at it, a related issue is the slowness of the forum site, too.

Well, I'm going to wait awhile to install (notice they've already come out with v7.0a) anyway but ...

Edit: a short while later things were up to T1 speeds again. But, I have always wanted to complain about the slow forum loads. Perhaps just intermittent, depending on # of users. Compared with dmnforums though (tons of ads to load, poor thread setup), Sony is fabulous.

I wasn't even going to get the trial 'cause I know I can't afford to buy the upgrade right now, but just for you, I decided to do so in order to test download speeds.

Started at 3:56:27PM, finished at 3:59:33PM -- averaged around 750KB/sec with initial bursts in the 900KB/s to 1200KB/s area.

Must've been a temporary problem. :)

And I hope you're happy. Now I'll either a) get to use Vegas 7 for 30 days before I have to give it up or b) I'll have to sell plasma so I can sustain the Vegas 7 habit I will surely develope.

;-)

As for the 7.0a, in the past the very first download version has always been an "a" release. The non-letter release goes out on disc, and then they usually get some fixes done between the time that's sent off to be pressed and when the software is actually released.

I didn't see the original download for this version, so I don't know if it was a non-letter or an "a" release.

Trying to download Vegas right now. Really strange that I was able to download all the other components of the package (DVD Architect, Boris, manuals, etc.) very speedily, but the Vegas download was downloading at a miserably slow 14 kb/sec. and was going to take 2.5 hours. I was using Firefox. I just switched to Internet Explorer and wala I'm up to 581 kb/sec. So, if anyone is experiencing slow downloads and they're using Firefox, maybe switching to IE will help. It did me.

Sounds like it's trial and error. I was using Firefox.

My download speeds are much slower than those listed here but I have learned that the first time I try to download it comes in at about 35k/sec. Cancelling this and starting again immediately yields 160k/sec. Like I said much slower but I am patient

Downloads on everything went very fast (400+kbps)--except for Boris. It appears to be pulling from a different server at 13kbps - it took over 1 hour just for Boris.

Everything but Vegas and the Vegas manual went very fast. After several tries I gave up on the down load page in the purchase process and went to "my software". Vegas 7a downloaded in under 1 minute 30 seconds.
